One of the biggest 2017 food trends was the Açaí Berry Bowl.
The açaí berry is a small, round, black-purple fruit similar to a blueberry and it is high in nutirents important for optimal health. Açaí berries are one of the fruits with the highest antioxidant content, even MORE than blueberries.
The açaí berry grows in branched panicles of fruits on açaí palm trees in Brazil, Belize and Peru. Since the 1990s, açaí juice, freeze-dried açaí and açaí extracts have been marketed globally for use in juice blends, smoothies and other beverages and as a dietary supplement. But it’s not until now the market has exploded world wide.
Wanna try it? Here is my low sugar recipe:
- 1 scoop Forever Ultra vanilla
- 2 dl unsweetened almond drink
- 1 chopped and frozen avocado
- 100 g frozen blackberries and blueberries
- 1-2 tsp açaí berry powder
- Some ginger
If you’re not picky with the sugar, add 1/2 frozen banana. 😋👌
